Custom Furniture
Walk
through a hardwood forest, and you'll see each maple, oak, or cherry tree is a
little different from the ones growing next to it. It's no surprise even identical
chairs have individual patterns in their grain. Just as no two pieces of
furniture are exactly alike, no two people are. We honor your individuality by
offering nearly unlimited possibilities for what is, after all, an intensely
personal choice: choosing custom handcrafted furniture. Each piece is made to
order, one at a time, to your specifications. In the exact style, wood, finish,
dimensions, and details you choose. If you don't see it here, ask for it. For
example, your chairs can sit higher, or your table lower. Your hutch can be two
doors wide, or spread out to five. We can even hand paint your custom furniture
order for you. Choose a table to seat four or, if you live large, twenty-four.
We care, so we take pains. And, for most orders, that takes extra time. But
think. A lifetime of beauty.

Craftsman Date & Signature
Craftsman
Date & Signature Our
craftsmen enjoy their work. And one way to show it is to autograph it. Once your
furniture is completed and inspected, each table and hutch is stamped with our
Keystone insignia and personally signed and dated by the craftsman responsible.
To us, it's a mark of integrity and assurance of
excellence.
An
additional option We
can personalize it with your choice of wording, sealed with our premier finish,
permanently identifying it as a prized family heirloom from a custom furniture
maker.

Painted Finish
A little
paint. A huge difference. Handcrafted furniture finishing is an option that
will dramatically change not only its appearance but its mood.
Custom
furniture painting shows off the exquisite texture of oak, cherry, or maple,
while minimizing the grain color variations. Depending on your choice of paint
color and offsetting stain, and which parts are painted and which stained, you
can achieve any of dozens of radically different effects. And capture
yesterday's charm in today's style.
Beyond the colors shown below, we
can custom-mix one for you - just send us a
sample.
This
finishing process is available on all our furniture.

Glazed Finish
For that
antique look, glaze the finish.
Furniture
glazing is an optional process that replicates natural age and wear, making your
new furniture appear as though it had been passed down for generations. We apply
the glaze by hand-rubbing it over the finish. As it brings out the texture of
the wood, we work it into the details and crevices to darken them and build
contrast. We rub it off the high points to suggest wear. The authentic patina
requires expert skill.
Today's
buyers of glazed finish furniture get to have it both ways: resurrecting the
past while exhibiting very current taste.
This
finishing process is available on all our furniture.

Distressing
Character lines and age marks may not be prized in people, but they certainly are in furniture. Ask us. We have many ways to achieve the heirloom furniture aura you're looking for.
Our distress packages can include indentations, pin holes, simulated cracks and sand-through highlights at common wear points. For example, the table and chair legs will look like shoes and brooms have scuffed them over the years. And to guess from the knob, the drawer has been opened a thousand times.
We also offer custom distressing with your choice of which effects you prefer.
Keystone Antiquity (Light Distressing)
Expert glazing to replicate a rich natural patina, light distressing, slightly eased edges, and pinholes are among the subtle hints of graceful aging that make this lightly antiqued finish so popular.
Keystone Vintage (Medium distressing)
The techniques of our light Antiquity Finish are further beautifully accentuated by medium distressing and hand-brushed highlighting to add a century of age to the appearance.
Keystone Legacy (Heavy distressing)
Our ultimate antique finish. Rub-throughs of the rich patina are masterfully punctuated with another level of nicks, simulated cracks and other distressing techniques to bespeak several centuries of robust wear and loving care.

Hand-Planed Finish
Recreating
the hand-planed look of yesteryear.
Somewhere
in our colonial past, a master craftsman bent over his
plane.
With
long, steady strokes, he brought thin curls of wood off the high points of the
table top, shaving and sculpting until he was satisfied it was as true as
possible. Still imperfect. But a thing of beauty.
Today that look
represents an ideal we strive to recreate with our hand-planed option and our
very own craftsmen. Our hardwood furniture distressing option is available on
all table tops, hutch buffet tops, occasional tops, and the top of our chair
seats. We also offer custom hand planing options to bring you that old furniture
look you're after..
This
finishing process is available on all our furniture and can be combined with
painting, glazing and hand-planing options.

Keystone Protective Finish
Begin with the end in mind. Start by choosing one of the hardwoods. End with
selecting how to finish it. Premium water resistant conversion varnish finishes
are standard, custom stain and paint colors are available. And remember,
pictures printed on paper do not convey the exact colors and textures of wood,
leather and fabric. Ask to see actual samples. More are available than shown
here.
Keystone™
Protective Finish
The
premium grade conversion varnish that is applied to all of our furniture is
hard, tough, and resistant to common household chemicals. This protective finish
resists the absorption of liquids left on furniture surfaces and helps to
eliminate watermarks.

American Made
We proudly sell Amish furniture that is handcrafted in the USA.
There is something uniquely American made furniture, particularly furniture that is handcrafted by the Amish. Our woodworkers make fine furniture using small tools powered by generators and hands as they have for decades, according to time-honored traditions.
When you purchase our fine furniture, you're buying an heirloom product that will last for generations. Additionally, you're supporting a cottage industry that is truly American - an investment you can take pride in.
Our customers take great pride in buying these American Made Heirlooms, knowing that their furniture was made as a labor of love, not in some factory assembly line overseas. And we take pride in selling each handsomely crafted piece.
